Audiophile Bluetooth Earbuds
I am currently using a Gigaware USB headset for voice chat. This is the first time I have used this particular device. It is being run on a Windows 7 machine. The OS detected and installed a C-Media driver, which shows to be the correct driver for this device.
I have run audio tests through Windows 7 control panel, and all tests of the microphone are functional, all tests of the headphone component are functional. The issue I am experiencing is when using the headset with EQ2 voice chat. In the options for voice chat, I can select the C-Media microphone, and this works fine. However, the C-Media is listed as an option in Output Device, but when I click on it, it will not select. The drop-down will revert back to default.
Computer Usb Headset With Microphone
I have tried every setting in Windows audio control panel that might remedy this, and cannot. If I switch the headset as the default audio device for the system, all of EQ2 sound goes through the headset. This is not the desired outcome, I would like to only route voice chat output through the headset, and leave the game environment sounds and music in my system speakers.
Any assistance with this issue would be appreciated. Some time back I had the same issue with a USB Plantronics Headset mic that used the C-Media driver as well. My goal was to set up the game client exactly as you describe. Other voice chat applications such as Ventrillo and Skype worked fine for both the microphone and the headset. However EQII Voice will not use the headset speakers and always defaulted back to the default system speaker output. Another person also reported the same issue back in the day on the old forums.
Sadly though the only solution that both of us could find was to change to a Logitech G330 headset. I am sorry that this is probably not the answer you were hoping for.
But I long ago gave up hope of either SOE or Vivox looking into or even solving this issue. The best solution I found was to get another headset to fix the issue. I have the same issue - started happening maybe two months ago (before that it worked flawlessly). Now, every time I start EQ2 it set the voice output back to default. I change it back to the Plantronics and it works for that session but the next time I start the client it reverts back to default. The fact that it used to work tells me it is something they changed.
I have looked in the INI file itself and it is correct in there but something is happening between the reading of that setting and implementation in game. It is really annoying. Even moreso because it used to work. SOE support has been no help.
